This Cookies Policy explains how Fredan uses cookies and similar technologies, what categories of cookies we set, why we use them, and the choices you have. It should be read alongside our privacy policy.

Cookies help sites remember information about your visit — such as your language, preferences or session — making your next visit smoother and more useful. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixel tags and browser fingerprinting; for simplicity we refer to all of them as "cookies" in this policy.
2. How we categorise cookies
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Site to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. Examples: remembering your cookie-consent choice, keeping you logged in to any comment system we operate, remembering items in a form during a session.
Preferences cookies
These cookies remember choices you make on the Site to give you a better, more personalised experience. Examples: preferred language, dark-mode toggle, dismissed banners, list-view versus grid-view of the blog.

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site by collecting information anonymously. They enable us to see which articles are read, how visitors arrived, and where they left. All data is aggregated and cannot be tied to an individual person by Fredan staff.

Where used, these cookies track visitors across websites so we (or partners) can display more relevant advertising. We currently keep marketing cookies to a minimum and never sell your data to advertising brokers. Where we display any advertising cookie, we explicitly ask for consent first.

4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies may be set by third parties whose services we use (for example our video-embed provider or fonts provider). We list them below and update this list when partners change.
- YouTube / Vimeo (only when a video is embedded and played): for video playback and analytics on the video itself.
- Web archive services (where linked): when you click a Wayback Machine link, that service may set its own cookies subject to its own privacy notice.
5. How to manage cookies
You have several options:
- Cookie banner — click "Decline" on the banner shown on your first visit to reject non-essential cookies.
- Browser settings — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Instructions:
- Opt-out tools — Your Online Choices (EU), Digital Advertising Alliance (US).
Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break parts of the Site. Blocking analytics has no impact on your experience.
6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal and, where technically possible, the Do Not Track browser preference. When either is enabled we do not set analytics or marketing cookies without your explicit consent.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this policy whenever our cookie use changes materially. The "last updated" date above tells you when. We encourage you to review it periodically.
